Punjab Police have arrested two suspected operatives linked to the Bishnoi gang, seizing pistols and live ammunition in an operation aimed at curbing organised crime in the state. The arrests were made following intelligence-led surveillance, which led to the interception of the accused and recovery of illegal weapons. Authorities believe the operatives were involved in facilitating the gang’s criminal activities, including extortion and targeted violence. The operation is part of Punjab’s broader crackdown on organised criminal networks, with law enforcement intensifying efforts to dismantle supply chains of arms and ammunition and disrupt the gang’s influence across both rural and urban areas.

Intelligence-Led Operation

According to police officials, the arrests were the result of sustained intelligence gathering on the Bishnoi gang’s movements and local networks. A targeted raid led to the capture of the two operatives, who were found in possession of multiple pistols and live rounds. The suspects are currently under interrogation to trace the origin of the weapons and identify other members of the network.

Organised Crime Threat in Punjab

The Bishnoi gang has been linked to multiple cases of extortion, contract killings, and cross-border arms smuggling. Punjab Police have intensified operations against such criminal groups, recognising their impact on public safety and economic stability in affected regions. Recent months have seen a coordinated approach involving special task forces, cyber monitoring, and inter-state police cooperation.

Disruption of Weapons Supply Chains

Officials believe that dismantling the gang’s weapons procurement channels is critical to weakening their operational capacity. The recovery of firearms in this case is seen as a step toward cutting off supply lines that enable violent activities. Investigations are also focusing on whether the seized arms have any links to recent high-profile crimes in the region.

Continued Crackdown Expected

The Punjab Police have reiterated their commitment to sustained operations against organised crime, stating that further arrests are expected as the probe widens. Enhanced security checks, surveillance of suspected safehouses, and collaboration with central agencies are among the strategies being deployed to dismantle the gang’s networks and restore a sense of security among residents.
