India Joins Global Jet Manufacturing League as Dassault and Reliance Forge Falcon 2000 Partnership

In a significant milestone for India’s aerospace ambitions, Reliance Infrastructure and France-based Dassault Aviation have announced a strategic partnership to produce Falcon 2000 business jets in India. Marking the first time the aircraft will be assembled outside France, the new final assembly line in Nagpur is expected to position India among the elite group of nations manufacturing advanced business jets. This venture strengthens the ‘Make in India’ initiative, showcasing India’s potential to emerge as a high-value aerospace manufacturing hub and deepening its role in the global aviation supply chain.

A Strategic Leap for India’s Aerospace Industry

In a landmark announcement made at the Paris Air Show, Reliance Infrastructure and Dassault Aviation revealed plans to manufacture the Falcon 2000 business jet in India. This move represents a watershed moment for India's aerospace sector, which until now has primarily been limited to component manufacturing and military platforms.

The new assembly line—set to be established at the MIHAN SEZ in Nagpur, Maharashtra—will mark the first time Dassault's iconic Falcon 2000 aircraft is assembled outside its native France. With this partnership, India joins an exclusive group of countries—alongside the United States, Canada, Brazil, and France—that manufacture business jets at scale.

Deepening the Dassault-Reliance Collaboration

This initiative builds on the foundation of the Dassault Reliance Aerospace Limited (DRAL) joint venture, created in 2017. Since its inception, DRAL has delivered over 100 major Falcon 2000 sub-sections, solidifying its role as a crucial contributor to Dassault's global production ecosystem.

The partnership is now entering a transformative phase. Dassault Aviation will transfer key production lines—such as the front fuselage assembly of Falcon 8X and 6X, along with complete wings and fuselage of Falcon 2000—to the Indian facility. These operations will culminate in the rollout of the first fully assembled 'Made in India' Falcon 2000 jet by 2028.

Elevating India to a Global Centre of Excellence

The Nagpur site is poised to become the first international Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Dassault’s Falcon business jets. Beyond just Falcon 2000, the facility will handle advanced programs such as Falcon 6X and 8X, highlighting the depth of trust Dassault has placed in its Indian partners.

Dassault Chairman and CEO Eric Trappier emphasized that this agreement reflects the company's long-standing commitment to India and the 'Make in India' policy. “It will enable India to be recognized as a vital player in the global aerospace supply chain,” he noted.

Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani described the collaboration as a defining milestone for the group and India’s manufacturing aspirations. “The Falcon 2000, built on Indian soil, will be a proud emblem of our nation’s industrial capability,” Ambani stated.

Economic Impact and Talent Development

This project is not just about technology transfer—it promises significant economic and employment benefits. Over the next decade, several hundred engineers and technicians are expected to be recruited to support DRAL’s expanding operations. This workforce development will be crucial in nurturing India’s domestic aerospace talent and reducing reliance on imported aviation technology.

Moreover, the final assembly line will cater to growing demand in both domestic and global markets. The Falcon 2000, renowned for its fuel efficiency, range, and comfort, is already a favorite among India’s corporate jet operators.

Looking Ahead: India as a High-Precision Aviation Powerhouse

The Falcon project adds considerable momentum to India’s ambitions of becoming a key global aerospace manufacturing destination. With state-of-the-art facilities, skilled manpower, and increasing global confidence, India’s industrial landscape is poised for a quantum leap.

From a geopolitical perspective, the venture not only enhances India’s manufacturing capabilities but also strengthens Indo-French ties in defense and civil aviation.

Conclusion:
The Reliance-Dassault partnership to assemble Falcon 2000 business jets in India marks more than just a commercial collaboration—it is a statement of intent. India is not merely participating in global aerospace production; it is positioning itself to lead. As the first Falcon 2000 takes flight from Indian soil by 2028, it will symbolize the country's arrival as a global center for cutting-edge, high-precision aviation manufacturing.
