Wipro Infrastructure Engineering to Acquire Majority Stake in France’s Lauak Group, Creating Global Aerospace Powerhouse

Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN), a leading Indian engineering and manufacturing solutions provider, has announced an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Lauak Group, a French aerospace parts manufacturer with a legacy spanning five decades. The transaction, revealed at the Paris Air Show, marks a strategic move aimed at expanding Wipro’s global aerospace footprint. While the deal's valuation and stake size remain undisclosed, the newly formed entity—Wipro Lauak—will operate under a joint governance model. Lauak’s CEO, Mikel Charritton, will continue in his role, ensuring operational continuity as the two firms integrate capabilities to serve top-tier aerospace clients globally.

Strategic Synergy in the Aerospace Sector

Wipro Infrastructure Engineering’s latest acquisition underscores its commitment to enhancing its position in the global aerospace ecosystem. The partnership with Lauak Group brings together two industrial powerhouses—one with roots in India’s technology-led engineering sector, and the other with five decades of craftsmanship and client relationships across Europe’s aerospace industry.

Founded in France as a family-owned enterprise, Lauak has supplied precision components to some of the world’s most prominent aerospace OEMs. This acquisition is expected to bolster Wipro’s technical capabilities, customer base, and manufacturing scale in the aerospace vertical.

Deal Structure and Operational Transition

Though Wipro did not disclose financial details or the exact stake acquired, the company confirmed that all procedural requirements—including consultations with employee representative bodies and regulatory clearances—have been completed. The transaction is anticipated to close in the coming months.

Following the acquisition, the integrated business will be rebranded as Wipro Lauak, combining the heritage and brand equity of both organizations. A newly formed joint board of directors, comprising representatives from Wipro and the Charritton family, will govern strategic decisions. Importantly, Mikel Charritton will remain as CEO of the group, signaling continuity and stability for existing customers and employees alike.

A Step Toward Global Aerospace Integration

For Wipro Aerospace, the acquisition represents a crucial step toward becoming a fully integrated aerospace solutions provider. According to Pratik Kumar, CEO of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, Lauak’s “rich legacy and specialised expertise” are perfectly aligned with Wipro’s broader strategic goals. The move is expected to deliver enhanced value, operational agility, and innovation across global markets, especially as the aerospace sector undergoes rapid technological transformation and realignment of supply chains.

Wipro’s intent to scale its aerospace presence is not new—it has made targeted investments in manufacturing, engineering, and composite technologies over the past decade. Lauak’s inclusion adds depth to its capabilities in aerostructures and complex components, potentially giving Wipro a competitive edge in bidding for larger global contracts.

Outlook and Industry Implications

This cross-border acquisition also reflects broader industry trends: consolidation within aerospace supply chains, a resurgence in civil aviation demand post-pandemic, and the increasing push for resilient, regionally diversified manufacturing hubs.

The Wipro-Lauak union could serve as a model for Indo-European industrial collaboration, particularly in high-precision, IP-intensive sectors like aerospace and defense. With complementary strengths and a shared commitment to innovation, the combined entity is poised to offer differentiated value to major aircraft manufacturers and Tier-1 suppliers worldwide.
