The unexpected blasts, followed by a blackout, have cast doubt on the durability of the truce and reignited concerns over the region’s volatile security landscape.

Residents of Indian-administered Kashmir were jolted awake Saturday morning by a series of unexplained explosions in Srinagar and Jammu, the region’s most prominent urban centers. Blasts were reported near the Srinagar airport and military installations, raising public concern and prompting residents to shelter indoors. While the precise cause of the detonations remains unconfirmed, the timing and locations of the blasts have fueled anxiety in an already sensitive region.

A sweeping wave of blackouts across more than 15 Indian cities on Thursday evening, including Chandigarh, Amritsar, Pathankot, and Srinagar, marked a sharp escalation in Indo-Pak tensions following cross-border drone and missile attacks. Pakistan’s attempted strikes on Indian military installations prompted immediate retaliation and enhanced defensive posturing by Indian forces.
