Tata Motors has redefined the electric SUV landscape in India with the launch of its upgraded Nexon.ev 45, featuring Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and two stylish new trims—the #DARK and Red #DARK editions. Priced at Rs. 17.29 lakh for the Empowered +A variant and Rs. 17.49 lakh for the special editions, the refreshed lineup combines enhanced safety, cutting-edge design, and premium features. Equipped with lane assist, autonomous emergency braking, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof, the Nexon.ev reasserts its dominance as India’s leading EV. This launch reflects Tata’s dual strategy of expanding market share while reinforcing innovation and trust in its EV portfolio.

Safety at the Core: Level-2 ADAS Integration

Tata Motors has positioned the Nexon.ev among the most technologically advanced EVs in its segment by adding Level-2 ADAS capabilities. Key functions include traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward collision alerts, pedestrian and cyclist detection, high-beam assist, and autonomous emergency braking.

This suite of features not only improves occupant safety but also aligns Tata’s electric portfolio with international safety benchmarks. By introducing ADAS at this price point, the company is making once-premium technologies accessible to a wider base of Indian buyers, thereby setting a new standard for mainstream electric vehicles.

Design Innovation: The #DARK and Red #DARK Editions

The #DARK and Red #DARK editions are designed to appeal to consumers who value exclusivity and aesthetics. The all-black exterior of the #DARK variant exudes understated sophistication, while the red-and-black dual-tone upholstery of the Red #DARK adds a sporty edge.

Premium inclusions such as a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, leatherette bolstered seats, and rear window sunshades enhance the cabin experience. These design cues, combined with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, underscore Tata’s focus on convenience and modern mobility.

Performance and Technical Highlights

The Nexon.ev continues to be powered by a 45 kWh battery pack, offering a real-world driving range of 350–370 km. It carries a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, a distinction that strengthens its appeal among safety-conscious buyers.

The EV supports fast charging, enabling a 20%–80% top-up in just 40 minutes, or approximately 150 km of range in 15 minutes. Pricing remains competitive:

Empowered +A 45 (ADAS): Rs. 17.29 lakh

#DARK and Red #DARK editions: Rs. 17.49 lakh each

Although these trims are priced about Rs. 30,000 higher than the previous top variant, the enhanced safety and design upgrades present a compelling value proposition.

Strategic Significance for Tata’s EV Ambitions

With the introduction of ADAS and the #DARK editions, Tata Motors is not merely updating its most successful EV—it is reinforcing its leadership in India’s EV market. The Nexon.ev already commands strong brand equity as the country’s best-selling electric SUV, and these new iterations are likely to widen its consumer base, appealing to both safety-focused families and style-conscious urban buyers.

The move also signals Tata’s readiness to defend its market dominance as global and domestic rivals scale up their EV offerings. By democratizing premium features, Tata has positioned itself as both a technology leader and a customer-centric brand in the evolving Indian EV ecosystem.
