TVS Motor Company, a leading Indian two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced the acquisition of Engines Engineering S.p.A., an Italian automotive design and engineering firm, for approximately €5.1 million (₹45 crore). This strategic move will establish a Global Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bologna, Italy, focused on advanced design, engineering, and prototyping capabilities.

Auto components maker Pricol has entered into a strategic partnership with a renowned Italian technology company to co-develop advanced solutions for the two-wheeler segment. This collaboration aims to harness complementary strengths — Pricol’s deep market penetration in India and the Italian partner’s expertise in precision engineering — to deliver next-generation instrument clusters and electronic systems tailored for motorcycles and scooters.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday raised an urgent concern over the concentration of critical minerals and their supply chains in a limited number of geographies, warning that this imbalance could harm global economic growth. He emphasized the need for countries like India and Italy to collaborate more closely in securing a diversified and sustainable supply of minerals, which are vital for clean energy technologies. The minister also highlighted India’s efforts to foster innovation in critical mineral processing and reduce dependency on a few key sources.

India and Italy have accelerated their strategic partnership by advancing cooperation across high-impact sectors including trade, defence, clean energy, and emerging technologies. Anchored by the Joint Strategic Action Plan (JSAP) 2025–2029, this collaboration also champions the ambitious India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), aimed at integrating key regions through modern infrastructure and economic synergy. During a recent diplomatic exchange in New Delhi, both nations reaffirmed their shared vision for a resilient, tech-driven, and inclusive future.
