SBI Launches Nationwide Mega Camp for Pensioners’ Digital Life Certificates

The State Bank of India (SBI) has rolled out a nationwide mega camp to help pensioners submit their Digital Life Certificates (DLCs) with greater convenience and efficiency. The initiative, launched across thousands of SBI branches and CSP outlets, aims to simplify the annual verification process that ensures the continued disbursal of pensions.

The campaign underscores SBI’s broader mission to digitize pension services and reduce the need for physical visits by senior citizens, aligning with the government’s Digital India initiative. Using Jeevan Pramaan, the biometric-based life certificate system, pensioners can authenticate their existence digitally through Aadhaar-linked devices, eliminating cumbersome paperwork.

Streamlining Pension Verification through Technology

Traditionally, pensioners were required to visit bank branches or government offices annually to submit physical life certificates. SBI’s mega camp, however, is designed to bring this service closer to pensioners, leveraging both digital platforms and doorstep assistance.

Through this initiative, pensioners can submit their certificates using Aadhaar-based biometric authentication at designated centers or through SBI’s doorstep banking services. The move aims to ease the process for elderly citizens, especially those facing mobility challenges.

SBI officials stated that the initiative is being conducted across all districts to ensure maximum reach, with support from the Central Pension Processing Centres (CPPCs) and field offices.

Integration with Jeevan Pramaan and Doorstep Banking

The initiative integrates seamlessly with Jeevan Pramaan, the Government of India’s flagship platform that digitizes life certificate submission for pensioners. Through SBI’s outreach, pensioners can generate and submit their Digital Life Certificates using simple biometric devices connected to Aadhaar authentication.

For those unable to visit a branch, doorstep banking services enable submission from home via authorized agents equipped with mobile biometric devices. The process ensures real-time digital submission to pension disbursing authorities, significantly reducing administrative delays.

This model of hybrid facilitation—combining in-person and digital solutions—has positioned SBI as a leader in financial inclusion and technology-driven service innovation for senior citizens.

Enhancing Accessibility and Customer Experience

SBI’s large-scale drive reflects a growing emphasis on customer-centric banking and inclusive financial infrastructure. The bank has ensured that even rural and semi-urban pensioners have access to DLC submission facilities through its extensive Customer Service Points (CSPs) network.

In addition to physical support, SBI has launched awareness campaigns through local media and SMS notifications to remind pensioners about deadlines and available options. The aim is to ensure that no pensioner faces disruption in their pension disbursement due to non-submission.

“Technology should empower, not intimidate,” said an SBI executive. “Our goal is to ensure that every pensioner—urban or rural—can experience ease and dignity in fulfilling this essential annual requirement.”

Promoting Digital Inclusion among Senior Citizens

SBI’s initiative comes at a time when digital inclusion for senior citizens is increasingly being recognized as a public policy priority. By combining human support with technological innovation, the bank is helping bridge the digital divide that often limits elderly participation in online systems.

The campaign also aligns with the Government of India’s Digital Life Certificate campaign for November, which encourages banks and government departments to hold special camps to facilitate DLC submission.

Through initiatives like this, SBI not only strengthens its relationship with the country’s pensioner community but also reaffirms its role as a front-runner in digital public service delivery.

Conclusion: A Step Forward in Tech-Enabled Pension Management

With over 1.5 crore pensioners banking with SBI, the mega camp represents a transformative step toward streamlining pension services through digital innovation. It enhances efficiency, transparency, and accessibility—key components of modern financial governance.

By harnessing the power of Aadhaar authentication and leveraging its vast branch network, SBI continues to modernize legacy systems while maintaining a strong focus on customer empathy and service integrity.

As India’s largest lender continues to digitize critical financial processes, initiatives like these set a precedent for technology-driven inclusion, where convenience meets compassion.
