India’s indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, Kavach, is emerging as a benchmark in railway safety, designed to prevent collisions, overspeeding, and signal-passing incidents. The system integrates advanced signaling technologies, GPS, and wireless communication to enhance train control and operational efficiency. While global ATP standards, such as Europe’s ETCS and the US PTC, have long set safety benchmarks, India’s Kavach demonstrates comparable performance, with localization advantages and cost-effectiveness.
