Maruti Suzuki to Launch E20 Upgrade Kits for Cars Up to 15 Years Old

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, has announced plans to introduce E20-compatible upgrade kits for its vehicles, including models up to 15 years old. The initiative aims to align with the government’s push for ethanol-blended fuel adoption, reduce carbon emissions, and offer customers a cost-effective way to extend the life of their cars. The kits will allow existing petrol-powered vehicles to run efficiently on E20 fuel, a blend of 20% ethanol and 80% petrol. By providing this retrofit solution, Maruti Suzuki seeks to enhance sustainability while ensuring convenience for millions of vehicle owners across the country.

Supporting India’s Ethanol Blending Targets

The introduction of E20 upgrade kits is part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader strategy to support the government’s target of achieving 20% ethanol blending in petrol nationwide. This initiative reduces reliance on fossil fuels, boosts energy security, and promotes the use of renewable energy sources.

Compatibility and Customer Reach

The retrofit kits will be designed to accommodate a wide range of Maruti Suzuki petrol models manufactured in the past 15 years. This broad compatibility ensures that both urban and rural customers can benefit from the upgrade without having to invest in a new vehicle.

Economic and Environmental Benefits

Switching to E20 fuel offers dual advantages — lowering greenhouse gas emissions and reducing fuel costs for consumers over time. Ethanol production from agricultural sources also supports rural economies by creating additional demand for crops like sugarcane and maize.

Commitment to Sustainable Mobility

With the E20 upgrade program, Maruti Suzuki reinforces its commitment to sustainable mobility solutions. Alongside electric and CNG-powered offerings, the company’s ethanol-readiness initiative reflects a diversified approach to reducing the environmental impact of transportation while meeting evolving consumer and regulatory demands.
