In a strategic push to deepen its regional logistics infrastructure, Flipkart has launched a new fulfilment centre in Patna, Bihar. Spanning 4.5 lakh square feet, the facility is expected to support over 6,600 local sellers and create more than 1,100 direct and indirect employment opportunities. The warehouse will streamline operations across multiple product categories—from mobile accessories to large appliances—serving more than 1,000 pin codes in the region. The initiative aligns with Flipkart's broader agenda to boost last-mile delivery efficiency while fostering economic development through inclusive and technology-driven supply chain expansion in Eastern India.

Strengthening Regional Supply Chains in Eastern India

Flipkart’s latest investment in logistics infrastructure underscores its commitment to empowering local ecosystems through technology and job creation. The newly launched fulfilment centre in Patna marks a significant milestone in the e-commerce company’s effort to enhance delivery efficiency and scalability in Eastern India, especially in semi-urban and rural markets.

Strategically located, the Patna facility will serve as a vital node in Flipkart’s expanding network of supply chain hubs, connecting over 1,000 pin codes with faster turnaround times and improved customer satisfaction.

Infrastructure and Operational Capacity

The state-of-the-art fulfilment centre, encompassing 4.5 lakh square feet, is equipped to handle high volumes across diverse product segments, including health and beauty items, mobile accessories, and large appliances. It is designed to optimize every stage of the logistics cycle—inventory storage, order picking, packaging, and dispatch—ensuring operational agility during peak demand cycles such as festive seasons and sale events.

By significantly reducing the last-mile delivery timeline, Flipkart aims to provide customers in Bihar and neighbouring regions with enhanced service reliability, even for high-value or bulky items.

Job Creation and Seller Empowerment

Beyond logistics efficiency, Flipkart’s Patna centre is poised to deliver substantial socio-economic benefits. The facility is projected to generate over 1,100 job opportunities, both directly through warehouse staffing and indirectly via logistics, transportation, and ancillary services.

Furthermore, the warehouse will serve a network of more than 6,600 local sellers, many of whom are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). With increased access to storage and fulfilment services, these sellers are expected to benefit from reduced delivery costs, streamlined operations, and greater market visibility.

A Step Toward Inclusive Growth

Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience, Re-Commerce & Minutes Business at Flipkart Group, emphasized the platform’s inclusive development vision.

“This facility will create meaningful employment opportunities, fostering local economic growth and reinforcing our dedication to inclusive development in the region,” Badri stated.

His remarks reflect the company’s broader strategy to democratize access to digital commerce and build logistics capabilities in underserved regions, a theme increasingly prevalent in Flipkart’s nationwide expansion efforts.

Flipkart’s Long-Term Vision

The Patna fulfilment centre is part of Flipkart’s ongoing initiative to build resilient and tech-enabled supply chains that meet the dynamic needs of India’s digital consumers. As the e-commerce landscape becomes more competitive, such investments not only enhance operational efficiency but also contribute to regional economic upliftment.

By aligning logistics growth with community impact, Flipkart is positioning itself not just as a retailer but as a catalyst for inclusive economic development—where technology meets employment and entrepreneurship.
